Help & information
Frequently asked.
How a sale unfolds, our timelines, authentication and payment: the essentials, so you can entrust your pieces with complete peace of mind.
01
Selling
How do I sell a piece to Ecrila?
It comes down to four steps. You present your piece online, with photographs, and receive an initial estimate. You then send it to us by insured shipping, at our expense. Our experts authenticate it and put forward a firm offer. You accept, and payment is released within 48 hours.
Which categories do you accept?
We buy back leather goods, watches, fine jewellery, signed jewellery, accessories (scarves, belts, small leather goods) as well as a selection of ready-to-wear and footwear from the great houses. If you are unsure whether a piece is eligible, submit it: we reply within 24 working hours.
Do I need the receipt or original box?
They are not essential. That said, the receipt, certificate, box and original accessories add value to your piece and speed up authentication. Include whatever you have; failing that, the judgement of our specialists is enough to make an offer.
What condition does a piece need to be in?
We take pieces new or worn. Condition affects the valuation, not whether we accept it: a patina, a minor flaw or signs of wear are not deal-breakers. There is no need to clean or restore anything yourself — our ateliers see to that.
02
Timelines & price
What are your timelines?
The online estimate is instant. Once your piece reaches us, authentication and the firm offer follow within 24 to 48 working hours. As soon as the offer is accepted, payment is released within 48 hours.
What is the difference between an estimate and a firm price?
The online estimate is an indicative range, drawn up from your photographs and information. The firm price is the definitive offer, settled after a physical inspection and authentication of the piece. It is never revised once you have accepted it.
Are there any fees for me to pay?
None. The estimate, insured shipping, authentication and, should you decline, the return of your piece are entirely free. The amount of the firm offer is the amount you receive — no commission, no hidden fees.
How do you set the price?
We take into account the house, the model, rarity, condition, completeness (receipt, box, accessories) and current trends in the second-hand market. Every offer is reasoned and presented to you in full transparency.
03
Authentication
How do you authenticate pieces?
Every piece is examined by our in-house experts: a check of materials, finishing, stitching, serial engraving and watch components, cross-referenced against our proprietary records. This physical inspection is systematic and underpins our firm offer.
What happens if a piece turns out not to be authentic?
Ecrila only buys back authentic pieces. If our inspection reveals a counterfeit, we make no offer and inform you without delay. The piece is returned to you free of charge, by insured shipping.
Are my pieces insured during the appraisal?
Yes. From the moment the carrier takes charge until the appraisal is complete in our ateliers, your piece is covered up to its estimated value. It is held in a secure vault, individually referenced.
04
Payment & security
When and how am I paid?
As soon as the firm offer is accepted, payment is released within 48 hours by SEPA bank transfer.
Why do you ask me for identification?
The regulations governing the buyback of valuable goods require us to verify identity (KYC procedure). We ask for valid identification and proof of a bank account in the name of the payment beneficiary.
How is my data protected?
Your documents are transmitted over an encrypted channel, stored securely and handled in accordance with the GDPR. They serve only the compliance of the transaction and are never sold to third parties for commercial purposes.
05
Shipping
How do I send my piece to you?
We send you a prepaid, insured shipping label. All you need to do is pack your piece with care and drop it at the collection point indicated. Carriage is covered in full by Ecrila.
Is the shipment genuinely insured?
Yes — every shipment is insured up to the estimated value of the piece, from the moment the carrier takes charge until it reaches our ateliers. You track its progress in real time.
What if I decline your offer?
You remain free at every stage. If you decline the firm offer, your piece is returned to you free of charge, by insured shipping and carefully packaged. No fee and no obligation are asked of you.
